During this sad and overwhelming time, Reiki has been my refuge. I taught a class the week of September 11th, just after our nation was attacked. I taught another one beginning October 11th, just after our nation had begun its own attacks in Afghanistan. My students may not realize how much benefit I get from teaching Reiki, since I get to absorb a lot of life force energy in the process.
I have struggled for balance between staying informed of world events and keeping my sanity by turning the news off. We have held two special Reiki gatherings to send healing to those in need and support one another. All the while I have relied on my daily practice of self-treatment to bring back some perspective on all of this.
In my first degree Reiki class, I always share the Reiki precepts with my students. These have been described as daily rules for living, and as spiritual principles to guide us. I share them with you now and hope that they may bring you peace.

| All of us may be suffering little backlashes from the current events. Wondering about our safety, grieving our losses, how do we put it all into perspective? Whenever we experience such emotions our body experiences them too. We may be feeling tired, not quite well, even our sense of happiness and well-being is not as it used to be.
Now is the time to take care. If you have not been able to get through this tragic events and are feeling helpless, hope is on the way. Hope comes in many forms. It comes through our actions when we reach out and help someone, it is our thoughts when we know we can overcome, and it is our faith when we know there is a higher power that can be tapped into by prayer and meditation. Now is the time to take good care of yourself.
If you have not established any routines that help, may we suggest some body work and Reiki. There is nothing like getting a massage or a Reiki treatment when you are out of sorts and imbalanced. If you are ready for positive change in your life, consider taking a Reiki class. We are here to listen and would be happy to help put you on a path of wellness and healing.
